Natural Health, Issue #025 --Drinking Water Benefits
January 03, 2013
Hello,

The Benefits of Drinking Water

Happy New Year!

Wishing you optimal health, increased energy, inner peace and joy in the New Year.

Have you set any health related New Year’s resolutions? I intend to sit and stand taller and to do my strengthening exercises three times per week.

One resolution that can have a huge impact on your health is to drink more water. I attended an eye opening conference on the benefits of drinking water.

Water is the solution for the dilution of the pollution! It helps rid the body of toxins. For this reason, drinking water can mean the difference between a head ache or migraine lasting an hour or lasting a few days. Picture it this way...

You want to be a river, not a stagnant pond!

Slow down the aging process

The body is comprised of about 50 to 65% water. As you grow older, do you want to be a grape or a raisin? Water keeps the aches and pains of aging at bay.

When you awaken you are dehydrated as you have had nothing to drink for 6 to 8 hours. I have gotten into the habit of drinking a big glass of water as soon as I get up. This is followed by a second glass of water right after breakfast with my supplements and vitamins. It’s important to take any supplements, vitamins or medication with a full glass of water to ensure they are transported where they are needed.

Another benefit of drinking water is reduced sugar cravings. I experienced this first hand after I attended the conference; I increased my water intake and had fewer sweet cravings.

Water is essential for weight loss. Many mistake thirst for hunger, increasing water intake will decrease the amount you eat.

How much water should you drink?

Everyone is different. It depends on your lifestyle, how active you are, how hot it is, etc. A general rule of thumb is 1/2 ounce per pound of body weight per day, or more.

Buy yourself a nice stainless steel water bottle to bring with you wherever you go. Keep a big glass of water at your desk. Increasing your water intake is a simple and effective way to improve your health,

Cheers!
