Natural Health, Issue #013 -- Stay Healthy When Traveling
January 26, 2012
Hello,

Healthy Travel Tips

Heading south this winter? There have been many stories in the news recently about vacationers returning sick from Cuba. Here are some simple travel tips to keep you and your family healthy while on vacation. For children, the capsules can be opened and added to food or drink.

It is important to do everything you can to prevent illness, gastro, etc., because once you are sick the damage is done, it's harder to reverse and of course, your vacation time is compromised.

Motion sickness:

Ginger capsules work wonders. Take 1 capsule 2 hours before leaving and 1 capsule every 2 hours as needed. Fine for children.

Gastro prevention:

Probiotics: take a good quality acidophilus bifidus supplement for 1 week before leaving, during the trip and continue for 1 week upon your return. 1 capsule per day for kids, 2 per day for adults, before meals.

Prevent parasites, fungal infections, support the intestinal system:

Black Walnut Hull extract: 36 drops per day in a glass of water for kids, 1/2 teaspoon 3 times per day for adults.

Infections - cuts, scrapes, etc:

Tea tree oil can be applied topically to help prevent infections.

Sunburn:

Aloe vera gel applied topically.

A Natural Antibiotic

Colloidal silver can be taken, 1 to 2 teaspoons per day (depending on which company is making it) to prevent infections, viruses, parasites, etc.

Diarrhea:

If you do get sick, you can take Slippery Elm to stop the diarrhea. Or, Nature's Sunshine makes an excellent product called UC3-J. This is a herbal combination containing slippery elm, as well as other herbs that protect and soothe an inflamed gastrointestinal tract. Take 1 capsule after each liquid stool for children and up to 4 capsules after each liquid stool for adults.

Stay hydrated if you have diarrhea. To ensure you get your electrolytes take:
2 cups boiling water
dissolve 2 teaspoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt and
the juice of 1/2 lemon.
Take a 1/4 teaspoon at a time, wait a few minutes and repeat.

Digestive Aid:

If you are going to be eating foods that you are not used to eating, a digestive enzyme with each meal will help you digest more easily.

An ounce of prevention is the rule of thumb while traveling. Follow these healthy travel tips for a worry free vacation. If you'd like more information, I'd be happy to help you out, please feel free to contact me.
