Causes of Candida

There are many causes of candida. Candida albicans is a yeast that lives naturally in harmony with the mucous in our body in the intestines and vagina. When the immune system is strong all is fine, but if the immune system becomes weakened the bacteria flora becomes imbalanced. Candida takes over and it becomes an illness.

Many years ago I suffered from candida albicans. I didn't know what it was or why I was feeling the way I did. Finally a Naturopath diagnosed it and I began implementing my natural candida treatment. I had a few false starts as it is very challenging to follow the candida diet guidelines. Finally I was very determined to get rid of candida once and for all. I followed the diet to a Tee.

The first month was very hard, not a grain of sugar, no alcohol, bread, or anything with yeast. I took supplements and did a cleanse. The second month was easier and after a few more months my symptoms were completely gone, I completely transformed my health, feeling 100% better and stronger.

Since then it has never returned. And an added bonus, I have been able to maintain a healthier, relatively sugar free diet, using only a little maple syrup occasionally.

Candida Albicans Cause:

Anything that depresses the immune system Candida rarely occurs in people who have strong immune systems and eat a healthy diet, low in sugar and yeast.

Long term use of antibiotics are one of the main candida causes as, you guessed it, they depress the immune system.

What else depresses the immune system?

  • Stress
  • Exposure to chemicals
  • Poor diet
  • Environmental molds
  • Infections
  • Sugar

Often antibiotics are prescribed long term for:

  • Acne
  • Sinusitis and respiratory infections
  • Cystitis

Yeast overgrowth can be caused by:

  • Hormonal changes associated with the menstrual cycle
  • Birth control pill
  • Pregnancy
  • Steroids
  • Genital irritations or abrasions
  • Diabetes
  • Reinfection from your sexual partner ¹
